Question: Any advice on how to get rid of Thrush?
Any advice on how to get rid of Thrush? I am breastfeeding my 2 month old son and he has thrush. His dr has prescribed Nystain in November. I have been giving him that since Nov but the thrush is still there. His dr called in more refills but I hate giving him this medicine if it is not working. Any advice on how to get rid of this? His lil tongue is coated white and it will not come off after wiping it.

You need to treat yourself as well, preferably with something superior than Nystatin. Its failure rate is over 50% since the sugars added to it (so babies tolerate it) feed the yeast overgrowth! Get some Grapefruit Seed Extract. It is accessible in pill or liquid form; to treat your son you need the liquid, so you might as well not get the pill form unless you really want it. Dilute it in water and swab his mouth and your nipples. It’s also a good theory to place some drops in a small glass of juice once a day for yourself (water is advised but the drops are WAY too bitter in water LOL). I had nipple thrush with my first for 3 months, and tried many different prescribed medications; nothing worked until I found out about GSE.
Here is more information about it! It’s a very powerful natural antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and antiparasitic compound. I can't advocate it enough. Good luck girl!

**Make sure you don’t accidentally get Grape Seed Extract. That’s good for heart conditions LOL.

Edit: Gentian Violet works fine, but it is very messy. Also, if your thrush goes into your milk ducts, you need systemic treatment, which GV can't do. That’s why I like the GSE. You don’t need a prescription for it Gentian Violet; most drugstores will carry it.

Just keep wiping after every feeding with a wet, warm & clean wash cloth. Some babies are just prone to it, but the key is keeping their mouth clean. Just like we have to brush our teeth after we eat, babies need their mouths cleaned after they eat. Wash you breasts also before and after nursing. It takes time, but it will go away.
