Many people presume that a yeast infection is manifest mainly by a discharge from the infected area. While this is certainly common, it is not necessarily the first sign that an infection has taken up residence. Soreness and itching in the general area are often examples of yeast infection symptoms that show up before any actual discharge takes place. This is very common with an infection that takes place around the anus or the genitals.

Sores that are red and inflamed might appear as well. The vagina and vulva areas in women might become swollen and sore. With a man, the head of the penis might develop sore patches that are red and somewhat scratchy. A discharge that is somewhat a grayish white in nature might form shortly thereafter, even though more women experience this type of yeast infection symptoms than men. Regardless of the type of symptoms that develop, it is a good theory to seek medical attention sooner rather than later. The longer that the infection has to settle in, the harder it will be to get rid of the infection and get back to a normal routine.
