What are some symptoms of low estrogen levels?

October 27th, 2013 by Emily

Question: What are some symptoms of low estrogen levels?
I’m 20 years old, and I’ve recently considered asking my gynecologist about if I have low, or abnormal estrogen levels. Due to- having small breasts, frequent yeast infections, depression and anxiety, excess hair, and a very light period. What are some other symptoms or signs of low estrogen levels and how can I start to seek help?

Hello, my aunt has had low estrogen levels and all I know is that she said that she experienced hair loss from her head. That’s all I know about it, I hope this was helpful in some way to you. Have a nice day!

i always thought yeast infections were due to too much estrogen. It used to happen to me all the time until i went on a lower-estrogen bc pill. it never happened since..
i dont’ think your problem is low estrogen, it might be just an imbalance of hormones in general. ask your doctor what you can do to balance it out.

Definitely go see your gyn doctor.

Your thyroid levels need to be tested for the depression.

The excess hair would be more a testosterone hormone level issue. Or an imbalance in the two hormones. The doctor could tell by blood testing.

If you aren’t on b.c. pills, don’t be surprised if the doctor gets you on something for the hormone management.

Small breasts can be just a genetic fluke and have nothing to do with your general health. Many women discover (pleasantly) that their breasts enlarge a cup or two during pregnancy and remain a cup size larger after nursing. There are drawbacks to having big boobs.

Yeast infections have many causes. Your gyn could talk with you about them better than we could online.

Don’t just think about going to your doctor, DO IT~

Fatigue that worsens during the day
Constant fatigue, lethargy and fatigue on light exertion.

    Signs of PCOS are:
-Few or no menstrual periods. This can range from less than nine menstrual cycles in a year (more than 35 days between cycles) to no menstrual periods.
-Some women with PCOS have regular periods but are not ovulating every month. This means that their ovaries are not releasing an egg each month.
-Heavy, irregular vaginal bleeding. About 30% of women with PCOS have this symptom.
-Hair loss from the scalp and hair growth (hirsutism) on the face, chest, back, stomach, thumbs, or toes. About 70% of women in the United States with PCOS complain of these hair problems caused by high androgen levels.
-Acne and oily skin, caused by high androgen levels.
-Depression or mood swings. Hormonal changes are a known cause of emotional symptoms.

Just talk to your doctor about your concerns.

it could be polycystic ovary syndrome
