Question: what causes thrush during pregnancy.. (6 months)?
im a very clean person, i like to shower 2-3 times a day and my partner and i ALWAYS have a shower before we engage in sex as im paranoid about germs on the penis after a long day etc. i have never had thrush in my life, nor during my first pregnancy either, on the weekend i had an extremely itchy crotch and got dagnosed with thrush, i have been using creams etc. and it is gone now, even though im still finishing off my course of antibitoics/ cream… my question is how does it start? what causes it, since im 21 and never had it before & ALL OF A SUDDEN….. i have it lol?

Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth you can get it from taking certain medicines but it is usually common in infants and older adults, but anyone can get it. People with HIV or AIDs get it all the time. If you have diabetes you can also get it. I got a thumbs down so here is some more info from the web. Pregnancy increases your risk for thrush. Hormone changes during pregnancy can lead to thrush by altering the equilibrium of bacteria in the mouth. And sugar can only increase thrush if your diabetic, so unless your diabetic then you dont need to lay off the sugar. Well you should because your pregnant. The bacteria in your mouth was thrown off equilibrium with a different bacteria. And I am getting this from a medical website so no THUMBS DOWN!

Cut back on the amount of sugar you’re consuming. Thrush lives off of sugar.
