You can consume yogurt but once you have an infection you are best going to the physicians for a cream. If you totally know it is a yeast infection you can use an OTC cream like monistat.

You need to see a doc for an accurate diagnosis. Once he diagnoses the infection then he will tell you the best way to treat it.

I have heard of treating them with plain unsweetened yogurt applied directly to the area (and in the area if ya know what i mean). I have personally never tried this. To me the monistat 3 day treatment was the absolute best.

Not that I know of. Just go to the drug store and get Monistat. It’s like $9

They have over the counter products you can try. If it doesn’t work then see your doctor he can prescribe something for you.

Eat a tub of live yogurt before you go to bed and again in the morning. Alternatively you can smear some of the live yogurt in your vagina before you go to bed. Probiotic yogurts like Muller are very good for keeping the yeast at bay if you eat one a day.

There is a homeopathic remedy called ‘Candida’, which you can take one a day until the infection clears.

Cut right back on sugary foods, like cakes, biscuits, sweets etc and include more vegetables in your diet including garlic.

    yogurt, eat it.

These common every day herbs can help with infection. They are all natural antibiotics.

Oil from the common herb OREGANO may be an effective treatment against dangerous, and sometimes drug-resistant bacteria.

GARLIC is one of the most commonly known natural antibiotics in american society. It can be used in a variety of different ways to strengthen the immune system. One of the most common and most effective uses is to make a tea out of a crushed garlic clove. Strain it into hot water, add a little cayan pepper, lemon juice and honey and you have a potent natural cold remedy. Slight variations of this drink have been used for hundreds of years to fight off the effects of the common cold along with countless other ailments.

“CITRICIDAL” is a natural antibiotic made from an extract of grapefruit seed, was developed from the observation that something in grapefruit (though not in other citrus fruits) keeps bacteria at bay for extended periods of time.

OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT is called Oleuropein, and has long been known for its anti-microbial properties, which are assumed to offer protection to the tree against predatory organisms.

    I hope this helps.

Yeast infection is a sign of an overgrowth in the candida albicans fungus that is a helpful fungus in our intestines – until it overgrows. Yogurt can help keep it under control, and can be added to water for a douche, or applied internally via a tampon for a cream.

However, if these don’t do it, then go to http://www.hufa.org – the yeast link, for some more info, before going to your doctor if this is your first one. Otherwise, monistat 7 day is generally held by the persons responding to this question in the past to be the most effective OTC product.

    (1) Eat lots of yogurt but read the package to ensure that it contains a fair amount of live cultures. Not all brands are created equal.

    (2) Take Acidophilus pills. Those can be purchased in most pharmacies, you don’t need a prescription and they are safe and effective. Doctors usually recommend them to people who tend to get yeast infections when they take antibiotics.

    (3) Use a vaginal suppository and follow directions.

    (4) Wear cotton panties, wash them well and dry on the highest setting on your machine. Avoid thongs and panties that don’t allow air to flow freely. Don’t wear too many layers of underwear. eg. Don’t wear a panty, under pantyhose, under jeans.

    (5) Change wash cloths and bath towels frequently. Make sure they dry completely between the times you use them. Moisture encourages growth of yeast.

    (6) Always wipe front to back.

    (7) Drink cranberry juice (low sugar type if you can find it).

    (8) Avoid white bread and excessive amounts of sugar. These encourage the growth of yeast in your body.

    (9) Have your doctor check your blood sugar level to make sure you are not diabetic.

I agree with most of the responses…except for applying non sugared yogurt to “the area.” Yes, yogurt is good for keeping them away, as is garlic (and also no sugar and yeasty foods). But if you actually have one, an OTC is going to help pretty quickly.

ALSO. I can’t stress this enough. There is another OTC you can purchase. It’s called AZO Yeast. AZO also makes products for UTIs and such. But I take the AZO yeast every day. If you have an infection, you are to take 3 a day, and if you don’t one a day. However, I take more than that, because I also suffer from psoriasis. This stuff is so good at clearing up the yeast, most of my psoriasis is gone. No joke. It’s only about $6 at your local Wal-Mart…other stores it’s a little bit more. But it’s worth it.

I have a friend take it for his recurring athlete’s foot. Plus, when it gets your yeast under control, the cravings for bread and sugar are much better.
    :)
